SILENT VIGIL FOR SCHOOLS SET IN MANNING

The Coalition for Education Equity, the coalition which sponsored events at the State House in May to honor the fiftieth anniversary of Brown v Board of Education and to call for full funding of education, will hold a silent vigil in Manning on Tuesday, June 15. Organizers have planned the vigil and court visitation in support of the plaintiffs in the current education equity case, Abbeville v State of South Carolina.

The vigil will form around the Clarendon County Courthouse in Manning at 8:30 a.m. and remain in place until the court convenes at 9:15 a.m. Participants will enter the courthouse for the court visitation.

Members of coalition organizations, which include The South Carolina Education Association, are encouraged to participate. Educators are especially urged to contact active and retired colleagues to organize carpools to travel to Manning.
